Leap Year And 29 February

How apt that today, 29 February, we hosted a Diamond Wedding Celebration (that’s 60 year’s!) and congratulations to Gill and Patrick. Even the sun came out, after a week of rain and dull days. Julius Caesar was behind the origin of leap year way back in 45BC. The tradition of women proposing is credited to originate from a deal struck between St. Bridget and St. Patrick, which allowed women to initiate dances and propose marriage on leap days. If a man refused he would have to pay a fine in the form of a new gown, gloves or kiss! So don’t delay if you have a special person in mind on this unique day in 2020.
